Along with Assassins, the Ranger class is part of the Scout archetype. As great predators, they can engender high quantities of damage during a fight and provide utility to the party.

As the EQ2 ranger guide explains, rangers are proficient in ranged weapons like bows and can cause immense DPS. They are useful in a group as they can deal damage to the mobs. The Ranger is a real threat when fighting at a distance and is one of the four classes listed as being the heaviest damage dealers in EQ 2 according to Killer Guides. This class are not only good at bows, but can be a good backstabber like their Assassin brothers. They wear medium armor and can use 1H and Dual Wield weapons.
