The Paladin class is also a part of the Fighter archetype in Everquest 2. Paladins, together with shadowknights, are dedicated all their lives to serve their gods. Using plate armor, the paladin is very versatile, perhaps in most MMO games and they are one of the more more rewarding classes.

Though not the best in any one particular area, but they tend to do lots of things very well such as tanking, healing, damaging, taunting and warding. However, the paladin's main role in many groups and situations is being a tank. When tanking, Paladins are responsible for maintaining aggro or keep the mob's attention, while other members concentrate on dealing damage, healing and so on.
