The class is within the archetype of Scout. This Bard-based class excels at singing furious songs and laments, using the might of cacophony to surmount enemies.

The Dirge is one of the four hybrid classes in EQ 2. Being the hybrid class makes them versatile in a party as they can harm mobs with spell and melee damage.

However, they can not use poisons like Rogues and Predators, but their spell damage is based on disease. Their combat style is a good mix of buffs, debuffs, combat arts and utility skills, while they can duel wield or use a one-hander and shield. Dirges wear medium armor (chain mail) and can carry either a round shield or a buckler.
